$30,000 Win Helps Massage Therapist RelaxThursday, December 12th, 2013
Columbia woman claims Hearts are Wild Tripler scratch-off top prize
A Howard County massage therapist can unwind and relax about her holiday spending and student loan payments, thanks to a $30,000 win on a Hearts are Wild Tripler instant scratch-off ticket.
Good fortune found our lucky lady when the 44-year-old stopped at a gas station to fill up her vehicle. “When I finished, I decided to go in the station to get a snack,” she said. “Then, I saw their Lottery display.” The Columbia resident chose the $3 Hearts are Wild Tripler scratch game because she had played it before and won. “I scratched the ticket in my car and just started screaming.”
The timing of the $30,000 win couldn’t be better. Our winner’s 15-year-old son recently hinted that a particular jacket he’s had his eyes on might make a great Christmas gift. “I told him that it was too expensive, that I couldn’t afford it,” she said. “Now I can’t wait to see his face when he opens the box.”
In addition to spending her winnings on holiday purchases, she plans to direct the windfall toward student loans and new furniture.
Lottery luck found her at the Stevens Forest Exxon at 6300 Stevens Forest Road in Columbia. Hearts are Wild Tripler hit the shelves in November. Five of the six $30,000 prize-winning tickets and 14 of the $1,000 winners are still awaiting discovery at Lottery retailers.
