Enter the 40 Rubies 2nd chance contest (official rules) to win cash prizes up to $40,000 simply by mailing in one non-winning Maryland Lottery 40 Rubies scratch-off ticket.

Four contest drawings will be conducted between February 2013 and August 2013. At each of the four drawings three winners will win $4,000 and one winner will win $40,000. Entries must be received by 10 AM on one of the four drawing entry deadline dates to be eligible for that drawing.

Following each contest drawings, all winners will be invited to attend and participate in our 40th Anniversary giveaway event to learn which prize they have won.

Players are also encouraged to attend each of the events where the Lottery will be giving away additional prizes including 40th anniversary promotional items and red $40 gift cards. Event dates and times are subject to change.

To enter the contest, send in any non-winning ticket with your name, address and preferably, phone number and/or email address on the back of the ticket to:

my entry came back undelivered although i had the exact address from the back of the card on my envelope. Can someone tell me what is going on?

I entered about 6 separate 40 Rubies entries. I just received one of those back in the mail returned to me as undelivered. The address I have on the envelope is the same as on the back of the card and on the website:

I’m not sure what is going on but I will attempt to mail it again. Now I’m out one envelope and one stamp in addition to the $10 I spent on the losing ticket. I sure hope none of my other tickets come back but the same address was used on those too. I mailed 4 others on the same day.

Why would you have a place on the ticket for people to place a stamp on the ticket, if you want them in envelops. This is the first time knowing that ticket are to be place in envelops. This need to be clearly stated on the lottery ticket, because I sent in all my non winning tickets without at envelop. What a waste of time and stamps!!!! What a scam!

I sent approximately 25 entries in by just putting a stamp on the ticket. Does this mean that none of the entries that I sent in will be used for the drawing?

I didn’t know you had to send these tickets in envelopes, I have sent in many tickets, will all these be rejected…

Marshella: Everyone who attended the BMI event received a nice Lottery gift bag. In addition, gift cards were randomly placed under chairs at different tables. At one point, a Lottery representative announced on the microphone for everyone to look under their chairs to see if they won. We do not have gift cards for every person that attends these events.

Then why does it state in the information above, and according to the rules, that they CAN be mailed with just a stamp on the back of the ticket – plus name, etc, filled out? Are the rules changing? Do I have now to worry that any of my prior entries, sent without an envelope, were discarded and not entered???

Marshella: We were mistaken. You can use either method to deliver your entry. All of your previous entries will be included in the drawings.

why do you need to send ticket in an envelope , when the address to the md. state lottery is right beow your info.?

Anthony: We commend you send it in an envelope because your entry is less likely to be lost in the mail or stolen before it arrives at MDLottery headquaters.

the ticket is too large for a standard Buss envelope-I had to fold the envelope to make it seal. Envelope bought at PO- it is a standard envelope.
