Wins With Cash Up Doubler Scratch-off
Last week when Bernhardt Nelson stopped to fill up his truck, he had no idea he would be leaving with more than a full tank of gas. Nelson picked the Cash Up Doubler scratch-off from the gas station’s Maryland Lottery vending machine, went back to his truck and began scratching. The ticket turned out to be a $50,000 winner.
Nelson, who owns a Baltimore welding company, purchased the Cash Up Doubler scratch-off ticket for the first time. “I thought I would try something new,” he told officials. “It was the last ticket in the machine. I’m glad I got there before someone else grabbed it.”
Nelson didn’t react when he first saw the ticket’s matching numbers. “I wasn’t wearing my glasses,” he said with a laugh. Putting on those glasses and he realized he had won $50,000. “I had to call my brother to brag a little,” he said. “We both play scratch-offs, but neither of us have ever won this much before!”
The lucky Baltimore-based man is looking forward to using some of the money for a down payment on a new home located closer to his parents and plans to save the rest. Grinning he said, “It’s a good feeling knowing that I have it in my back pocket.” He found his Lottery luck at the Crystal Car Wash at 35 Back River Neck Road in Essex.
