Multi-Match Makes Some Noise
Thursday, July 14th, 2011In-State Lottery Jackpot Game Offers $1 Million Jackpot Tonight
While it lives its life in the shadows of its bigger siblings, never getting the attention that they do, tonight the Lottery’s Multi-Match game begins an effort to claim the hearts of local players. It is now in the running, along with Mega Millions and Powerball, to produce Maryland’s next lottery millionaire.
When Monday’s drawing produced no jackpot winner – although more than 12,000 players did pocket lesser prizes – the game moved into the million dollar zone, a place Multi-Match rarely visits. “The jackpot begins at $500,000 and climbs each time players fail to match all six winning numbers,” explained Lottery Director of Communications Carole Everett. “But the reality is that the jackpot usually gets hit before it gets to $1 million.” Marylanders have won Multi-Match’s top prize five times so far this year, most recently back in May when a Silver Spring man won $850,000.
There are multiple ways to win with Multi-Match. Players may win by matching 3, 4 or 5 numbers on any one line, or by matching 5 to 18 numbers on all three lines combined. To win the jackpot, players must match all six numbers on one line. Multi-Match drawings can be seen on WBAL-TV Channel 11 on Mondays and Thursdays at 11:22 pm.
