Pick 4 Breaks the Bank, and Then Some, with $5 Million Payout

For reasons unknown to Lottery officials, the number combination 1-0-1-0 is very popular among Maryland Lottery players. This point was proven yesterday when the Pick 4 midday drawing produced more than 4,500 winners.

The payout for the drawing not only broke the bank, but tore down the walls and bulldozed the wreckage.  Lottery records show sales for the drawing were just over $218,000.  The prize payout was $5 million, which is 2,317 percent greater than total sales.

“Pick 4 players are some of our most loyal,” said Lottery Communications Director Carole Everett. “We’re very happy that so many people took home so much yesterday.”  Winners who wagered $.50 per ticket took home $2,500 each, while those who wagered $1 won $5,000.  Pick 3 and Pick 4 drawings take place twice a day, seven-days-a-week.
