Hughesville Man
Follows in Wife’s Winning Footsteps
Wins $30,000 Top-Prize on
Bubble Bucks Tripler Scratch-off
(Baltimore) – A quick stop at a local store to appease his wife
proved very profitable for a Hughesville man on Sunday. He and his
spouse were returning from church and she asked him to take her to
pick up a few grocery items along with some Lottery tickets.
Although anxious to get home, he agreed to her wishes. An avid
Lottery player, she won $50,000 on Bonus Match 5
approximately a year ago. “She wins all the time,” said the man
shaking his head.
While waiting
for his significant other, the 57-year-old retiree said that he was
bored and pointed to the scratch-off display. “Give me one of
those,” he said, referring to the $3 Bubble Bucks Tripler scratch-off
ticket. That spontaneous purchase was the very first time he ever
bought a scratch-off of any kind. “I was just waiting with nothing
to do and figured why not.”
He gave it to
his wife to scratch. After checking and rechecking the ticket, they
were still not convinced of the win. I’m a doubter,” the former
policeman said. It wasn’t until the next morning when the $30,000
prize was confirmed by a Lottery official that the father-of-two
became excited. “I was so happy. I just saw those big bags of
money. Then I was depressed, cause I’ve gotta give it all to my
wife,” he said laughing. “She’s going to buy another Gucci bag.”
The winning
ticket was purchased at Jimmie’s Corner located at
6270 Brandywine
Rd. in Hughesville.
