Bowie Couple Find $250,000 Mega
Millions Ticket in Coat Pocket
(Baltimore)
– A Prince George’s man found more than just lint when searching his
pockets last week. The lucky man found a Mega Millions ticket
worth $250,000. The winning ticket had been in a jacket pocket for
nearly a month-and-a-half before being discovered. “I was lucky to
wear the jacket that day. I probably wouldn’t wear it for the rest
of the season,” said the winner.
“The temperature had dipped and I was wearing a heavier
jacket than normal,” said the man. When he noticed a heft in his
pocket he pulled out a stack of tickets. “There were a lot of
unchecked tickets,” he said. “I usually just check to see if I’ve
won the jackpot. If I don’t match the Mega number sometimes I’ll
just put it away.” On a lunch break, the Federal employee checked
his stack of tickets. Nearly 20 minutes later, he was almost
finished when one of the tickets matched five out of six numbers.
He called his wife to see what prize they might have won.
When she called back she had to ask her husband to have a seat
before she revealed their big win. The lucky couple plan to bank the
money and pay a few bills.
The lucky winner plans to change a couple other things too.
“I’m going to change the way I do things. I’m not going to let the
tickets pile up,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Rips Restaurant located
at 3809
North Crain Highway in Bowie.
