Ellicott City Man Goes for Groceries and Gets a Bonus
Great-Grandfather Wins $50,000 Top-Tier Bonus Match 5 Prize

(Baltimore) – An Ellicott City man went to the store to buy groceries and came out with a little bit more.  While inside the store, the 83-year-old man purchased some  Quick Pick Bonus Match 5 tickets as well as tickets with numbers he chose himself. His selected numbers were the big winners. “I get my tickets where it is convenient for me,” he said. “I went to Giant to buy some groceries and decided since I was there, I’d get my daily Bonus Match 5 tickets.”

The lucky winner saw the Bonus Match 5 numbers in the newspaper the next day.  When asked what his reaction was when he realized he won, he told Lottery officials, “I was very happy, of course.”

The retired Calvert Drug Company representative will use his winnings to take care of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  “At my age you don’t make plans, you just take it day-by-day,” he says with a smile.  The winning ticket was purchased at Giant #136, located at 9200 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City
