‘Dreams’ Can Come True With New Maryland Lottery Scratch-Off Ticket

(Baltimore)- To celebrate the 2008 summer games, the Maryland Lottery launched its new Dream for the Gold scratch-off ticket. The $2 ticket debuted June 30, 2008, and has a top prize of $10,000. Players could win additional Lottery games with the ticket’s “Medal Match” feature. Players who find “GOLD” will win one $2 Mega Millions Quick Pick ticket; ”SILVER” wins one $2 Multi-Match Quick Pick ticket and “BRONZE” will net a $2 Bonus Match 5 Quick Pick ticket.

“People equate the games with the spirit of competition and the realization of dreams. It is the ideal tie-in for us,” said Maryland Lottery Director Buddy Roogow. “Many Marylanders will be watching the competition with heightened interest, especially with local swimmers Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff contending for gold medals,” he added.

The Maryland Lottery will promote the Dream for the Gold scratch-off at events throughout the summer with fun, athletic-themed games and prizes. In addition to giving away Dream for the Gold scratch-offs, special prizes will include athletic wristbands and whizbee flying discs. Simulated gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to participants who “compete” in the Lottery’s own summer games. Other promotional venues include Lottery parties with a summer games focus and the Lottery’s radio and television promotional partners will hold on-air summer games trivia contests. “Dream for the Gold is fun, patriotic and what dreams are made of,” said Roogow.

The 2008 summer games begin August 8, 2008 in Beijing, China. The Maryland Lottery’s broadcast partner, WBAL-TV Channel 11 in Baltimore (NBC) will provide comprehensive coverage.
