Adams Family Finds Luck on the High Seas
Double Down Scratch-off is $10,000 Winner
(Baltimore) – Pat Adams was picking
up her groceries on Tuesday morning when she decided that she should
buy a Mega Millions ticket for the drawing that night. After
she bought the ticket she decided to follow in her mother’s
footsteps and purchase some scratch-offs for fun. “My mom used to
play the scratch-offs all the time, so I thought I would try for
her,” said the lifelong Pasadena resident.
Pat and her husband Mark are frequent
boaters and were heading out to sea that afternoon. “She took the
scratch-offs onto the boat without scratching them,” Mark mentioned.
“Even if she did win, we had no way of checking it out on the
ocean.” On Wednesday afternoon, they pulled into the marina for a
drink and decided that it was time to scratch. “We didn’t think it
was a winner,” said the couple, who have been married for 32 years.
That night they invited their sons down to the Red-Eye restaurant
for some dinner. Afterward, their sons insisted that they take the
ticket over to the local 7-11 to check it out. To their surprise,
the retailer checked the ticket and told them they had a winner.
“We didn’t believe it. We had never won anything before so we
didn’t really know how to act,” said Pat.
With plans to put the money towards
their oldest son’s upcoming wedding, Mark and Pat, are delighted to
be winners. The winning ticket was purchased at Lauer’s Superthrift,
located at 8095 A Edwin Raynor Blvd in Pasadena.
