Maryland Lottery “Let Yourself
Play” Summer Giveaway
Offers Sizzlin’ Excitement
BALTIMORE, MD – Backyard barbecues, pool
parties, sun and surf…summertime is playtime and the Maryland
Lottery is pumping up the fun with its new Let Yourself Play
Summer Giveaway. This two-part promotion, which launched on July
21, 2008, will award $440,000 in special cash prizes and over $4
million in Free Play vouchers.
The first facet of the Let Yourself Play Summer Giveaway runs
through August 17, 2008. Players purchasing terminal tickets may
find the words, “Let”, “Yourself” or “Play” on their tickets. If
they collect all three words to spell out the phrase Let Yourself
Play, which is the Maryland Lottery’s slogan, they can mail in
the tickets to the Maryland Lottery for the chance to win up to
$250,000.
In addition to the $250,000 grand prize, other prizes include
$50,000, $25,000, $10,000, $5,000 and 100 prizes of $1,000 each.
Players eligible for the top five prizes will be invited to a grand
prize event at the Maryland State Fair at the Timonium Fairgrounds
on August 30, 2008. A game will be conducted at the Fair to
determine who wins each of the top prizes and there will be a
special presentation for the big winners.
“Summer is all about getting outside, playing and having a great
time,” said Lottery Director Buddy Roogow. “This new promotion
epitomizes our focus on fun and it should also be a big boon to
sales.”
The second component in the promotion runs through August 31, 2008.
Random terminal tickets of $1 or more will feature one of three
prizes -- $2, $5, or $10 in Instant Free Play vouchers. The ticket
messaging encourages Pick 3, Pick 4 and Keno play.
“Players love receiving free additional games. This part of our
summer initiative creates good will, which is always good business,”
said Roogow.
To further tout the promotion, the Maryland Lottery will be holding
an online contest where members of their VIP Club are asked to send
in a summer photo of “summer play”. Three photo winners will be
randomly chosen in early September and receive a special prize pack.
“We’re always striving to make our players happy. I think the Let
Yourself Play Summer Giveaway is just the ticket,” Roogow
concluded.
