Silver Spring Woman Wins $250,000 Playing High Roller Scratch-off

(Baltimore) – After a series of recent hardships, a Silver Spring woman experienced a reversal of fortune when she won $250,000 yesterday on the Lottery’s High Roller scratch-off. On her lunch break, the safety technician went to buy her typical Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets. While waiting in line, she decided to purchase just one $10 High Roller scratch-off. She proceeded to scratch the ticket right there in the store and to her surprise revealed the top-prize win. “I was in total shock,” she said. “I switched my eyeglasses and looked at the ticket again to make sure I really won.”

The Montgomery County woman returned to work where she phoned her daughter with the happy news. After finishing out the workday, she then stopped by another Lottery retailer, who confirmed her win and told her to go to the Lottery claim center. Arriving at the agency’s headquarters the next day, accompanied by three friends, the 50-year-old expressed great appreciation, as well as disbelief, about her win. “I couldn’t sleep last night thinking about it,” she exclaimed.

The mother-of-four intends to use her prize money to pay off loans and to realize a long-held dream. “I want to buy a home for my children,” she said. “I just want to get my life back together and this will make it possible.”

The winning ticket was purchased at MDBEP #010 Glovers, located at 9000 Rockville Pk. Blvd. in Bethesda.
