to be Named at
State Fair
Five Finalists Vie for Top Prize of $250,000
(Baltimore) – The Maryland
Lottery will wind up its Let Yourself Play Summer Giveaway
promotion in grand fashion at the 127th Maryland State
Fair on Saturday, August 30th. Five contestants will
compete at the Grand Prize event, which will take place from 12 pm
to 3 pm on the Lottery stage near the 4-H Building at the Timonium
Fairgrounds. A total of $440,000 in prize money will be awarded,
including the Grand Prize of $250,000. Festivities leading up to the
naming of the grand prize winner will include stage entertainment
with music by the XPD’s, games, giveaways and more. Fairgoers may
also visit the Lottery booth, located in the Exhibition Hall, to
spin the prize wheel and purchase Lottery tickets.
The event is
the culmination of the “Summer Giveaway” contest which required
entrants to collect the words, “Let”, “Yourself” and “Play” on their
non-winning Lottery terminal tickets and mail them into the Lottery
by the August 19th deadline date. Finalists were then
determined by a random drawing.
The five finalists are Deborah Langston from Dundalk; Charles
Douglas from Mechanicsville; Marsha Squirewell from Baltimore; Elex
McKnight from Baltimore; and Beverly Garrett, also from Baltimore.
These finalists will participate in an exciting game to win the
$250,000. Each of the other four finalists will receive one of the
following runner-up prizes: $50,000, $25,000, $10,000 and $5,000.
In addition, 100 entrants will receive $1,000. More than 34,000
entries for the contest were received by the Maryland Lottery.
