Lifelong Orioles Fan Scores Big
at Game
Ellicott City Man is Oriole Park’s 50 Millionth Fan
(Baltimore) – Law student, Kevin Gracie, experienced his very own
Field of Dreams last night as The Maryland Lottery and Oriole Park
at Camden Yards partnered to celebrate the 50 Millionth fan to pass
through the Park’s turnstiles. As the Park’s milestone visitor,
Gracie received $50,000 and five years worth of O’s season tickets.
Racing through
the crowd to greet the stunned winner, Lottery Director Buddy Roogow
presented Gracie with a ceremonial check and balloons. “It just
doesn’t get any better than this,” said Roogow. “I’ve participated
in many promotions, but when you combine baseball and prize money,
that’s definitely a homerun.”
Gracie, a 24-year
old University of Baltimore law student, has been coming to Orioles
games since he was a toddler. While he’s excited about the $50,000,
the season tickets seem to be the prize that thrills him most. “I’ve
always dreamed of having season tickets,” he said.
"Fifty
thousand is great, five years of season tickets is amazing,"
Director Roogow,
a big O’s fan himself, looks forward to the next leg of the
promotion when the 100 millionth fan passes through the gates. “I’ll
have the privilege of presenting a $100,000 check to someone,” said
Roogow. “I hope our next winner is as big a baseball fan as Kevin.”
