Frederick Woman Wins $100,000 Jewels of the Nile Top Prize

(Baltimore) – Persistence paid off for Cassandra Stacho of Middleton. Each day for two years, the 24-year-old has bought tickets for herself and three of her co-workers. “They give me their money and I get the tickets and we each take one,” said Cassandra. “This year we’ve played more than ever.” Cassandra considered getting out of the group, but after two of the members won $500, she was inspired to stay. She too came out a winner, but instead of $500, she won $100,000 on a Jewels of the Nile scratch-off.

When the lucky winner scratched her ticket, she initially thought she had won $10,000. As she continued to reveal the amounts, she discovered it was actually the top prize of $100,000. “I didn’t realize how much I really won,” said Cassandra. “Everyone started shouting when they found out how much the ticket was worth.”

Cassandra, who works in accounts receivables at the Steck Sales Company, plans to use her winnings to purchase her first home.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Airpark Exxon, located at 7983 Muncaster Mill Road in Gaithersburg.
