St. Leonard Man Celebrates Labor Day with $100,000 Win

BALTIMORE, MD – The Lottery’s new instant scratch-off, Diamond Mine, proved to be a gold mine for James Kinkade.  The 45-year-old celebrated Labor Day in style, after winning the new ticket’s top prize of $100,000.

James prefers to play the newest scratch off games, which led him to purchase the Diamond Mine ticket that just recently went on sale. After buying his tickets he went back to his truck to scratch them.  The first Diamond Mine he scratched was the big winner. After scratching his remaining ticket, he returned to the store to confirm his win.

“You might want to take a look at this,” he told the Lottery agent. The agent smiled and told him to drive to Lottery headquarters to cash in his win.  The married-father-of-two went straight home to tell his wife and mother the great news.

A nuclear plant mechanic, James intends to pay bills and put some of his winnings in savings. With a wedding anniversary right around the corner, he also plans to surprise his wife with a ring.

The winning ticket was purchased at Town & Country Liquors located at 2707 St. Leonard Road in Port Republic.
