Baltimore Woman is 3 Times Lucky while Grocery Shopping
$30,000 Top-Prize Winner

(Baltimore) A trip to the Shoppers Food Warehouse grocery store for birthday party items turned into a real surprise for Susan Nicholas. She won $30,000 on the Lottery’s 3 Times Lucky scratch-off.  The Montgomery Wards retiree was shopping for her mother in-law’s 80th birthday celebration and bought her ticket from the Instant Ticket Vending Machine (ITVM) on her way out of the grocery store.

She then went to pick up her 84-year-old mother for breakfast. While waiting in the car for her mom, she decided to scratch her ticket.

“I didn’t get excited because I was convinced it couldn’t be right,” said Susan, who was accompanied to Lottery headquarters by her husband of 44 years, Nick. Once she verified she had a winning ticket Susan called her three sons with the exciting news.  Then she called Nick.  “I couldn’t believe it, I was dumbfounded,” he exclaimed.

The 64-year-old winner plans to use the prize money to pay off bills and make sure her eight grandchildren have a nice Christmas. “I’m so glad I decided to stop and get the 3 Times Lucky ticket,” Susan said with delight.

The ticket was purchased at Shoppers Food Warehouse #7564 located at 5722 Ritchie Highway in Baltimore.
