Montgomery County Woman Wins Second-Tier Prize Playing Mega
Millions
(Baltimore)
– A Montgomery County woman has found a new source of financial aid.
The 54-year-old won $250,000 on her Mega Millions ticket
while she was out of town, moving her youngest child into college
for his freshman year. “He’s just got a bit of financial assistance,
so this will help,” she said.
The winner kept her lucky
ticket in her car. “I get in the habit where I’ll purchase tickets
and just leave them in my car. When I get a chance I’ll scan a bunch
of the tickets,” she said. When she scanned her ticket from August
15th, she got a bit of a surprise when the ticket quick
check said she was a winner. She hurried out of the store and
confirmed her $250,000 win by checking the website and calling the
Maryland Lottery claims office.
She’s keeping news of the
win quiet. “My husband doesn’t know yet. I think he’s got a feeling
that I’ve won something, but I’m waiting until I have the check
before I tell him,” she said.
The lucky winner said
the winnings would come in handy with her youngest in college now.
“I’ve already gotten the ‘I need money call’ already,” she said. The
winning ticket was purchased at the Royal Farm convenience store on
Key Highway in
Baltimore City.
