Baltimore Woman Wins $250,000 Contest Prize

Five Finalists Competed in Let Yourself Play Summer Giveaway Finale

(Baltimore) – When Marsha Squirewell collected the words “Let” “Yourself” and “Play” this summer, she mailed her tickets in for the Let Yourself Play Summer Giveaway promotion.  Marsha and four others were selected from over 34,000 entries as finalists to compete for the $250,000 top prize.  On August 30th, in front of a cheering crowd at the Maryland State Fair, Marsha emerged the big winner of the second-chance contest.

The Grand Prize event consisted of four rounds of play.  One finalist was eliminated during each of the first three rounds, leaving two people vying for the $250,000 top prize.  Deborah Langston from Dundalk won $5,000, Elex McKnight from Baltimore won $10,000 and Beverly Hamlin from Baltimore won $25,000.

The final round came down to Charles Douglas from Mechanicsville and Marsha from Baltimore.  The excitement grew as the two waited to see which game pieces were turned over, determining who won $50,000 and who walked away with the top prize.  As the final game piece revealed that Marsha was the grand prize winner, the 47-year-old cried tears of joy and hugged her mother.

The Let Yourself Play Summer Giveaway promotion made many other Maryland Lottery players very happy.  One hundred other entries were selected as runners-up and those players won $1,000 each.
