Woman Continues Hot Streak
Wins $50,000
Top Prize on Hot Streak Scratch-Off
(Baltimore) – No
stranger to scratch-off wins, the 48-year-old
Glen Burnie
woman came to Lottery headquarters on Wednesday to claim her third
big prize. In 1996, she first won $10,000 on a $2 scratch-off, then
just six months later, a $5 Riverboat Riches ticket paid off
to the tune of $100,000. It was the Lottery’s $5 Hot Streak
scratch-off that garnered her most recent $50,000 win.
“I play when I
have a couple extra bucks,” said the woman who works in support
services at a major hospital. She had stopped at the grocery store
to get a few things and was going to buy a scratch-off, but didn’t
want to wait in line. She proceeded down the street to another
Lottery retailer, where she bought two instant tickets. The first
produced a $15 prize, the second elicited an “Oh my God” from the
happy winner.
The scratch-off
fan, said that she will use her winnings to help her roommate who
needs surgery for two brain aneurisms. “I told her if I had a
million dollars, I’d give it to her.” She added, “I can’t give you a
million, but how about $50,000?”
The winning
ticket was purchased at Champion Liquors, located at 7385 Baltimore
Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie.
