Rolling, Rolling,
Rolling…Mega Millions Jackpot Rolls
to $200 Million for
Friday’s Drawing
(Baltimore) – The Mega Millions jackpot has rolled yet again,
resulting in a lot of “what if” conversations among hopeful winners.
Since nobody matched all six numbers for Tuesday’s drawing,
tonight’s jackpot has an estimated annuity value of $200 million and
a cash option of $127.2 million.
Although the big
jackpot has eluded Marylanders in recent months, the State has had a
number of second and third-tier Mega Millions winners. Since
the beginning of January there have been 30 second-tier $250,000
prizes and 171 third-tier $10,000 prizes won.
Currently two
$250,000 Mega Millions’ prizes have yet to be claimed:
6/23/09 sold at Royal Farms in Elkton
10/2/09 Piney Creek Mart in
Chester
March 2007’s
$390 million Mega Millions jackpot currently holds the record
for the world’s largest. The biggest jackpot in Maryland, $183
million, was won in June 2003 by Bernadette Gietka, from Baltimore
County.
The multi-state
game is played in 11 other states, including Georgia, Illinois,
Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia,
Washington, Texas and California. Mega Millions drawings can be seen
on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11:22 p.m. on WBAL-TV, Channel 11.
