Man Takes Advice of Fellow Player and Wins
$50,000 Sizzlin’ Spot
Crossword Top-Prize Won
(Baltimore) – The Maryland Lottery’s latest scratch-off winner can
thank a perfect stranger for his big win. The lucky winner was
undecided to which scratch-off to play this past weekend, so he
asked the advice of a woman who was in the store with him. That
turned out to be $50,000 worth of advice.
“I play scratch-offs often, but I wasn’t sure which one to buy on
that day,” he said. “The lady in front of me said she won on
Sizzlin’ Spot Crossword, so I chose that one.” He bought three
of those tickets and the third one turned out to be a $50,000
winner.
The concrete finisher said after revealing the big win he
immediately went home to show his wife. “Even after looking at the
ticket, she didn’t believe it right away,” he said. He hid the
ticket under a file cabinet and waited impatiently for the weekend
to end so he could claim his prize. The player told Lottery
officials that he is glad it is over and that the ticket is finally
cashed.
“I didn’t think people really won the Lottery,” he said. “I sure
hope it is not the last time for me.” The grandfather of six said
he is going to save his winnings and wait to decide how he will use
his prize.
The winning
ticket was purchased at Brother’s Beverage and Exchange located at
2013 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood.
