Lottery Luck Finds WW2 Navy Veteran
Wins $10,000 Scratch-Off Prize

(Baltimore) – Listening to Richard Steward talk about his life for just a short time will convince anyone that he is a heck of a lucky guy. From his time in the service to his time as a husband and father in Baltimore, things seem to have gone his way. That streak continued today when he visited the Lottery’s claim center to pick-up $10,000 he won last week playing the Holly Jolly Jackpot scratch-off game.

Richard has seen bombs fall around his ship at Pearl Harbor on December 7th and assault troops storm Omaha Beach on D-Day and never got a scratch. He worked for decades as an iron worker without mishap. Marriage and his family have brought him nothing but happiness. It’s not unusual to see smiles on the faces of Lottery winners, according to officials, but it's pretty clear that Richard does a lot of smiling, regardless of his Lottery luck. When asked how he’d spend his winnings, Richard admitted, “We don’t have any exact plans for it at the moment. Everything is pretty happy in our lives right now.”

The winning Holly Jolly Jackpot instant ticket – one of several holiday-themed scratch-offs issued in recent weeks – was purchased at the 7-11 convenience store at 204 Bowley’s Quarters Road in Baltimore.
