Hi Patrick – Thank you for your message. The Maryland Lottery launches approximately 50 scratch-off games per year with an assortment of price points, prize amounts, and play styles. Our goal is to offer a mix of tickets on the shelf that will appeal to everyone. While the Player’s Club ticket sold well at first, ticket sales decreased significantly after a few months. Due to those decreased sales, distribution of this ticket to retail locations was temporarily halted with plans to re-introduce the ticket at a future date. Even though distribution was stopped, the tickets that you purchased still offered the same opportunity to win the top prize (we have no way of telling where a winning ticket is before it is sold and then claimed). In addition, once the ticket was re-launched, it still offered the same prizes that were remaining prior to the halt.

it seem like all of the scratch offs with the jackpot wins are in the county, not in the city.

Truth is the geographic locations of our winners are all random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.
