$100,000-Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Fruitland

Lucky ticket from last night’s drawing sold in Wicomico County

One lucky Lottery player is waking up a bit happier today as Maryland’s newest $100,000 Powerball winner. A Wicomico County retailer sold the third-tier winning ticket in the Wednesday, March 19 drawing. Even though no one hit the estimated jackpot, Maryland had 11,984 total winners of prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000.

Check your ticket carefully if you bought it at the Walmart at 409 North Fruitland Blvd. in Fruitland. The winning numbers were 8, 11, 21, 49, 59; the Powerball was 15 and the Power Play multiplier was x2.

The winning ticket matched four white balls plus the Powerball. Typically, that would be a $50,000 prize, but the Lottery player added the Power Play option when purchasing the ticket. The Power Play multiplier for that drawing was x2, which gave them the $100,000 win.

Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing.

Instructions for claiming prizes are available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website. Prizes of more than $25,000 must be claimed through Lottery headquarters, either in person or by mail. Lottery headquarters is in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330, in Baltimore. An appointment is required to claim in person (no walk-ins). The appointment scheduling page shows all available appointment times.

The Powerball jackpot rolled to an estimated annuity of $444 million for the Saturday, March 22 drawing, with an estimated cash option of $207.2 million. This is the 11th third-tier winning Powerball ticket sold in Maryland in 2025, with another Fruitland retailer selling a $50,000 Double Play winning ticket on Feb. 1.
