Millionaire’s Club instant ticket prize a happy surprise for Baltimore County woman
A professional therapist going through a tough time visited Lottery headquarters on Wednesday to claim a prize that has brightened her outlook considerably. The $50,000 win she uncovered when scratching off a Millionaire’s Club instant ticket has her smiling again.
“I lost someone special on Christmas Day,” the Baltimore County resident told Lottery officials. “It’s been a tough few weeks for everyone in my family.” Although she buys tickets infrequently, when she noticed a Lottery vending machine at a Baltimore Giant grocery, a thought popped into her head. “I thought that a scratch-off might be a nice pick-me-up. It might get me out of the mood I was in.”
The Pikesville woman had no trouble explaining why she chose to play Millionaire’s Club, a $20 ticket with a $1 million top prize. “It was the million dollar prize. I figured that if I was looking for something to change how I was feeling, I might as well go big.” While that $1 million dream eluded her, she wasn’t disappointed finding a $50,000 fortune.
“I sat in my car just staring at it,” she said, recalling the moment the scratch-off revealed its prize. “I looked in the rearview window and my eyes were as wide as they’ve ever been and my jaw was hanging open. I could not believe what was happening.”
The Millionaire’s Club debuted in July 2024. Two of the game’s $1 million top prizes are still in circulation, as well as three $50,000 second-tier winners. Our lucky therapist found her $50,000 surprise at Giant #159 located at 3757 Old Court Road. The winner plans to use her windfall to support family members impacted by the passing of her beloved relative.
