Across Maryland, players won or claimed $29.7 million during week ending Jan. 10
A $100,000 win in Smithsburg, a FAST PLAY progressive jackpot hit for $83,775 in Elkton and six prizes of $50,000 each in Baltimore, Ocean City, Hyattsville, Landover, Middle River and Bryans Road topped the Maryland Lottery’s list of big wins last week.
As the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots continued to grow beyond a half-billion dollars each, one of the Maryland Lottery’s $50,000 winners was a Powerball player in Middle River. In addition, there were three Mega Millions winners at the $10,000 level, one each in Hyattsville, Timonium and Scaggsville. The estimated annuity jackpot for the next Mega Millions drawing on Jan. 12 is $600 million – the fourth-largest in the history of the game – while the estimated Powerball jackpot for the Jan. 13 drawing is $550 million, ninth-largest in the game’s history.
In all, Lottery players won or claimed more than $29.7 million in the seven days ending Jan. 10, including 33 tickets worth $10,000 or more that were either sold or claimed during that span.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only.
All Lottery retailers are authorized to cash winning tickets up to $600, and approximately 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) retailers are authorized to cash tickets valued up to $5,000. Prizes up to and including $25,000 can be claimed at any of Maryland’s six casinos with no appointment necessary. More information is available on the How To Claim page of mdlottery.com.
