Silver Spring man claims $185,304 progressive jackpot
A Silver Spring man who is an avid Maryland Lottery player felt particularly lucky one day while playing Lottery games. Although a fan of scratch-offs and draw games, the 38-year-old decided to try his luck with a FAST PLAY ticket.
After monitoring the progressive jackpots in several FAST PLAY games, he visited Colesville Beer & Wine in Silver Spring and bought a ticket for the $10 Cold Hard Cash game. The resulting $185,304 jackpot win is his largest Lottery prize ever.
The lucky player scanned his ticket right away and learned of his newfound fortune. His reaction? “I just stayed cool,” the man said. He later shared the great news with his dad, who was equally shocked.
This isn’t his first time winning big. The Montgomery County resident, who has worked in real estate for 15 years, took home a $1,000 prize playing the $1,000 Loaded scratch-off. When asked of his plans for his windfall, the player said he plans to play it safe and invest the funds.
His lucky Lottery retailer, Colesville Beer & Wine, is located at 13468 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a progressive jackpot-winning FAST PLAY ticket of $100,000 or more.
