Lucky ticket with Power Play feature purchased in Jessup
A Maryland Powerball player had a winning Wednesday thanks to a ticket purchased in Howard County. The ticket was a second-tier winner in the Dec. 15 drawing, as it matched the first five numbers that were drawn. And because the ticket included the Power Play feature, the $1 million prize was doubled to $2 million. The new multimillionaire only missed the right to claim the jackpot by one ball!
Check your tickets closely because even though no one hit the jackpot in the Wednesday night drawing, 16,880 Maryland players won prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million. Congrats to all of our winners!
Our new multimillionaire bought the ticket at Royal Farms #230 located at 7136 Montevideo Road in Jessup. The winning numbers to match were 19, 20, 40, 42 and 59; the Powerball was 15. Lottery officials encourage all winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location until they can claim their prize. Winners get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes.

The Powerball jackpot has rolled to an estimated $353 million for the Saturday, Dec. 18 drawing with a cash option of $256 million. This was Maryland’s third $2 million winning Powerball ticket won in 2021.
Also benefiting from the $2 million winning ticket sale is the Howard County Lottery retailer. The convenience store earns a $5,000 bonus from the Lottery.

Players can add either Power Play to their tickets for an additional $1 or Double Play for an additional $1 or both for a total ticket cost of $4.
