Champagne celebration a possibility to celebrate windfall
The thrill of a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 win did nothing to change the plans of a practical-minded Maryland Lottery player from Suitland, who said the money is going into savings.
Brimming with excitement and smiling all the while, the 34-year-old said she enjoys playing Lottery games. She has previously won relatively small amounts, often on Bonus Match 5.
“$20 here, $50 there,” as she put it on March 3, after claiming her $50,000 top prize from the Feb. 16 drawing. “I got lucky on that one particular day!”
She bought her $2 quick-pick ticket the day of the drawing at 29 Convenience Mart in Silver Spring. The Prince George’s County resident was astonished to see she won the top prize.
Although the money is going into savings, there’s a good chance a small celebration is in the cards, she said. “Maybe we’ll get a bottle of Champagne.”
Our winner is the 10th to claim a top prize in the game in 2022. Her lucky Lottery retailer, 29 Convenience Mart, also benefits from her Lottery luck. The store located at 10755 Colesville Road in Montgomery County received a bonus of $500 from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket. The bonus is equal to 1% of the prize.
