Ticket sold in Chesapeake City marks Maryland’s fourth Cash4Life top-tier win
Happy days are here for a lucky Maryland Lottery player in Cecil County who became the fourth person in Maryland to win $1,000 a day for life, courtesy of the Cash4Life game.
The player bought the top-prize winning ticket in the Aug. 29 drawing from Eagles Nest gas station located at 2754 Augustine Herman Highway in Chesapeake City. The winner has the choice of $1,000 a day for life paid in annual installments of $365,000 (before taxes); or a one-time cash payment of $7 million (before taxes). Check your ticket for the winning numbers of 1, 2, 24, 31 and 51; the Cash Ball was 3.
The winner has 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize. Lottery officials strongly encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket immediately and keep it in a safe location until claiming the prize. For selling the lucky ticket, Eagles Nest gas station will receive a $7,500 bonus from the Lottery.
Our top-prize winner wasn’t the only happy Cash4Life player in the Aug. 29 drawing, which saw a total of 3,414 Maryland winners of prizes of $2 and up.
The Maryland Lottery began offering Cash4Life in January 2016. Ten states participate: Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Tennessee. Since the game began in June 2014, Cash4Life has had 61 top-prize winners of $1,000 a day for life and 159 second-tier winners of $1,000 a week for life.
Maryland’s previous three Cash4Life top-tier winners were:
- A Frederick County Public Schools employee in the May 2, 2016 drawing
- William Brown of Pikesville in the Aug. 7, 2017 drawing
- “Bahama Mama” of Salisbury in the Feb. 11, 2020 drawing
