Player bought ticket in Charlestown for Wednesday’s drawing
Congratulations to a lucky Powerball player who bought a ticket in Cecil County for the Wednesday, Jan. 18 drawing. You are $50,000 richer!
Although no one hit the jackpot, there were 17,140 winning tickets sold in our state ranging from $4 to $50,000.
The Wellwood at 523 Water Street in Charlestown, which is a local restaurant, sold the $50,000-winning ticket. The winning numbers to match were 6, 15, 22, 42 and 47; the Powerball was 26 and the Power Play multiplier was x3.
Lottery officials encourage all winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. They get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

The Powerball jackpot rolled to an estimated annuity value of $473 million for the Saturday, Jan. 21 drawing. The estimated cash option is $255.7 million.
So far in 2023, Maryland Lottery retailers have sold three third-tier winning Powerball tickets, two worth $50,000 and one with the Power Play option which tripled the prize to $150,000. In 2022, the state sold two $2 million second-tier winning tickets, seven $1 million second-tier winning tickets, 92 third-tier winning tickets and five Double Play third-tier winning tickets.
Winning Powerball numbers are available at mdlottery.com and on your smartphone by downloading the free MD Lottery app. Powerball is offered in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each. Players can add either Power Play to their tickets for an additional $1 or Double Play for an additional $1 or both for a total ticket cost of $4.
