Lucky winner claims $50,000 prize on Bonus Match 5
After wondering if or when he would ever find a big Lottery prize, a Prince George’s County resident got his answer. His lucky day was Feb. 9, when the 76-year-old won a $50,000 top prize in the Bonus Match 5 drawing.
The winner plays Lottery games faithfully and found his lucky Bonus Match 5 ticket at Galaxy Liquor Crab House in Hyattsville. He placed a $14 bet on three sets of numbers for seven drawings spanning Feb. 7-13. The Hyattsville resident learned of his win on the date of his lucky drawing and is super excited about his windfall. He says that he will use his prize to pay bills.
He is the second Marylander to win a $50,000 top prize in 2023 playing Bonus Match 5. His lucky Prince George’s County Lottery retailer, Galaxy Liquor Crab House located at 7241 Old Landover Road, receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery for its role in selling a $50,000 top-prize winning ticket.
Bonus Match 5 drawings take place seven days a week. Players select five numbers ranging from one to 39. The Bonus Ball drawn from the remaining 34 numbers provides extra chances to win. Your ticket is a winner if you match five, four or three of the original five winning numbers selected in the drawing. If you match the Bonus Ball number, you only need to match four, three or two of your original numbers to win.
