Salisbury woman claims top prize on $50,000 Cash scratch-off
It seemed like a hopeless situation for a Salisbury woman who accidentally selected the wrong scratch-off ticket from a Maryland Lottery self-service vending machine. She thought she had wasted her money, but a major sigh of relief ensued when she scratched the ticket and realized it was a $50,000 winner.
When the 43-year-old woman went into the Royal Farms located at 1033 S. Salisbury Blvd. in Salisbury, she intended to purchase a $2 ticket. She wasn’t happy when she accidentally selected the $20 $50,000 Cash scratch-off.
“I told myself, ‘I just wasted $20’,” the stay-at-home mom told Lottery officials.
Needless to say, her frustration was very short lived. The lucky winner was still in shock while claiming the ticket at Lottery headquarters on Feb. 23. She currently has no plans for her winnings.
The Royal Farms store will receive a $500 bonus for its role in selling a top-prize winning ticket worth $50,000. The $50,000 Cash game launched in December with 160 $50,000 top prizes. There are still 138 remaining.
