Player stunned by Gold X50 game success
Gifts of scratch-offs are part of her family’s traditional birthday celebration, a Prince George’s County woman told Lottery officials. However, being gifted a $50,000-winning scratch-off is far from traditional!
“Journey,” as the anonymous winner nicknamed herself for Lottery publicity, found her second-tier prize playing a Gold X50 scratch-off.
“I was having a good day, enjoying my birthday with loved ones as I planned,” said the 29-year-old. As the festivities began winding down, she scratched off her gifted ticket and was in disbelief over her Lottery luck. “For the first time in my life, I felt rich!” she said. “This was the best birthday present.”
A once or twice a year Lottery player, the lucky winner usually is gifted scratch-offs on holidays and her birthday. “Journey” and her close friends and family members consider her “lucky” because she always seems to win.
When asked by Lottery officials what she plans to do with her prize, “Journey” said she plans to buy her dog “Cali girl” some treats, take herself out for a nice night on the town and put the rest of the funds into investments and savings. She isn’t the only one celebrating this win. High’s #071 located at 116 Central Avenue West in Edgewater also gets bragging rights as a lucky store.
The Gold X50 game debuted in January with 10 $100,000 top prizes. Two remain, along with one of the $10 ticket’s $50,000 prizes. The game is a member of a Gold Multiplier family of games, which include the $1 Gold X5, $2 Gold X10 and $5 Gold X20 games.
