Prince George’s County man claims $100,000 top prize
A maintenance technician who describes himself as the Lottery’s biggest scratch-off fan arrived at headquarters this week with a $100,000 top-prize winning ticket in hand. While verifying his claim to the title of biggest scratch-off fan may take time, the Lottery can verify that the College Park man’s $100,000 prize puts him among the Lottery’s biggest scratch-off winners.
“I love scratch tickets,” said the happy player. “They are my favorite hobby.”
The 57-year-old father of two stopped in at 7-Eleven #11667 in College Park on his drive home from work last week. “I was picking up some milk, and while I was there, I decided to play.” His choice was between two $10 instant games. The Prince George’s County resident chose Hot 7s Multiplier because a friend had won $100 with the game a few days earlier.
Scratching off his instant ticket outside in the car, the loyal player experienced a full-body reaction when he uncovered the $100,000 prize. “I was suddenly very, very nervous. Sweating. Heavy breathing. It took a few minutes for my hands to stop shaking enough to drive home.”
The lucky winner said his Lottery windfall will be of great help in a search already under way for a new car that he and his daughter will share. His big win came courtesy of the 7-Eleven at 8900 Edmonston Road in College Park. For selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
Hot 7s Multiplier debuted in May with eight $100,000 top prizes and 32 $10,000 second-tier prizes. There are three unclaimed top prizes and 16 remaining $10,000 prizes.
