Silver Spring woman claims first instant top prize in game
All it took was $5 and a random urge to buy a Lottery scratch-off for a Silver Spring woman to become a $50,000 winner. Last Wednesday, she took a chance on THE BIG SPIN scratch-off and won the game’s first instant top prize.
The happy player found her winning scratch-off at Dong Phuong Market, located at 8545 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. After opting for the $5 instant ticket, the Montgomery County resident quickly scratched it off and showed it to the store clerk. The clerk informed her that her instant ticket was a winner, but she would have to visit Lottery headquarters to claim the prize because of its size.
“Shocked” and “happy” are the words she used to describe her feelings about her big win. The winner said she is filled with excitement and hasn’t made any plans yet for enjoying her windfall.
THE BIG SPIN scratch-off went on sale in April and gives eight winners the opportunity to go to Lottery headquarters for the chance to claim prizes of $50,000 to $250,000 on The Big Spin Wheel. The game also carries three $50,000 instant-win top prizes. Four players have already tried their luck with The Big Spin Wheel.
Her Montgomery County retailer is also a winner. Dong Phuong Market will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off worth $50,000.
