Lucky Car Key Helps Scratch-off Player Win $100,000

Reveals top prize on Gold Rush 7s Multiplier instant ticket

A Baltimore man credits his $100,000 top-prize win on a Gold Rush 7s Multiplier scratch-off to the use of his lucky car key. Instead of a coin or a scratcher, the player used his car key to reveal the “Lucky 7” symbol that led to his own private gold rush.

The city resident purchased his $10 instant ticket at a Baltimore City 7-Eleven. He decided to play the game in the store, scratching off a few $10,000 prizes but without matching any winning numbers. Then, the married man revealed a “Lucky 7” symbol on the very last line of his game. Beneath the symbol was $100,000. Not sure if he really won, the restaurant worker scanned the prize check area using the store ticket checker.

“It said he was a winner,” said his wife, who accompanied her spouse to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. “He thought it was for $10,000. He couldn’t believe it was for $100,000!”

The winner said he is still considering options for enjoying his prize. Also receiving a money rush is the 7-Eleven where he bought the instant ticket. The store at 3003 North Charles Street will receive a $1,000 Lottery bonus for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

Five of the six Gold Rush games went on sale in May, with the $30 $2,000,000 Gold Rush game arriving earlier in February. This is the third top-prize winner on the Gold Rush 7s Multiplier game. There are still five top prizes of $100,000 remaining, along with 25 $10,000 second-tier prizes and others ranging from $10 to $1,000. The other games in the Gold Rush scratch-off family are the $1 Gold Rush 7s, $2 Gold Rush 7s Doubler, $5 Gold Rush Tripler and $20 Gold Rush 777. games.
