Southern Maryland resident finds top prize on Money Money Money scratch-off
Birthday luck brightened an Anne Arundel County man’s day last week. The landscaper was purchasing gas for his mower and a drink to quench his thirst when a feeling came over him that he should buy a scratch-off. He did and won $50,000!
His birthday bonus came in Deale. While in between landscaping jobs, the father stopped at a High’s to fuel up. Seeing his friend buy games from a Lottery vending machine, the winner followed his example.
“My friend had just finished playing, so I decided to try my luck too,” said the happy player. “I took my $5 change and put it in the machine.” He chose one $5 Money Money Money game.
The Southern Maryland resident said he likes to scratch off instant tickets’ play area to see if he matches any numbers and then will scratch off the prizes. This time, playing the game while in his vehicle, he revealed a “coin” symbol and for that you win whatever prize is hidden underneath.
“I saw a five and thought it was $50,” he said. “But then, I saw a comma and more and more zeros.” The scratch-off fan revealed a $50,000 top prize and was completely surprised. He immediately shared the news with close family members. Later, after signing the back of the instant ticket and locking it safely away, he made plans to claim the prize.
While in the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters, the player told Lottery officials that he considers the $50,000 prize an awesome birthday gift. He plans to save most of his small fortune and use some of it for an already planned vacation.
The Money Money Money instant ticket went on sale in March with eight $50,000 top prizes; two remain. Lots of other prizes are also still available, including nine $5,000 prizes and others ranging from $5 to $1,000.
Also celebrating the win is his Lottery retailer located at 5761 Deale Churchton Road. The Anne Arundel County High’s management will receive a $500 Lottery bonus for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
