Lottery prizes last week totaled nearly $27.7 million, with 31 tickets worth $10,000 or more
As the jackpots for the national games Mega Millions and Powerball continued rolling, seven players in Maryland won prizes ranging from $10,000 to $1 million in those games last week.
The largest of the wins in the jackpot games was also the Maryland Lottery’s biggest prize of the past week: A Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was sold in Brooklyn Park for the Oct. 15 drawing and remains unclaimed as of Oct. 21. Other big wins came on tickets sold in Baltimore, Bethesda, Riverdale, Silver Spring, Waldorf and White Plains.
The jackpot for the next Powerball drawing, on Oct. 21, has an estimated annuity value of $456 million ($219.9 million estimated cash value), and the next Mega Millions drawing is Oct. 22 when the estimated annuity jackpot will be $205 million (estimated cash value $97.5 million). Powerball generated five $50,000 prizes in Maryland last week, including three in the Oct. 19 drawing.
Across the state, the Lottery paid nearly $27.7 million in prizes during the week of Oct. 14-20, including 31 tickets worth $10,000 or more that were sold or redeemed in that seven-day span.
Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing. FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after purchase. The last date to claim for scratch-offs is posted on the scratch-offs page.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must redeem tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, which is open by appointment only. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any of the six casinos in Maryland. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at any of more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations. All Maryland Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem tickets worth up to and including $600. More information is available on the How to Claim page of the Lottery website.
