Montgomery County man claims top prize on GAME OF THRONES scratch-0ff
A Montgomery County man who occasionally stops by his local Lottery retailer to buy scratch-offs couldn’t resist buying six of the $5 GAME OF THRONES™ instant tickets, as he is a fan of the hit Game of Thrones television series. As a result, the surprised Montgomery Village resident won a $50,000 top prize.
The lucky player spotted the games at Goshen Plaza Beer & Wine located at 9150 Rothbury Drive in Montgomery Village. He wasted no time scratching off his instant tickets and learned, while in the store, that he won his big prize. The sanitation employee kept calm but told Lottery officials that he remembers he could not believe what he was seeing. He had matched the winning number of 5 on one of the scratch-offs to a corresponding block with a $50,000 prize. Afterward, he called his brother-in-law to share the great news.
The happy player is still deciding what to do with his prize in the game, which went on sale in September 2024 with six $50,000 top prizes. Two top prizes remain, along with five $5,000 prizes and others ranging from $5 to $1,000.
Goshen Plaza Beer & Wine also gets to share in the fun. The Montgomery County business collects a $500 Lottery bonus for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
