Temple Hills man claims $50,015 prize on Bonus Match 5
A longtime Bonus Match 5 player from Prince George’s County finally landed the big prize he’d been hoping for.
“I play the same numbers all the time, I’ve been doing so for years,” the lucky winner said as he sat in the Winner’s Circle room at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. In fact, he said he’s used the combination of 5, 6, 8, 23 and 30 for almost a decade. And on May 28, those numbers earned him a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize.
That day, he bought a $4 ticket with six lines of numbers at Modern Liquors located at 2358 Iverson Street in Temple Hills. He selected four of the lines himself, including his special set of numbers, while the other two were randomly quick-picked by the Lottery’s computer system. He checked his ticket the next day, and to his disbelief, he matched all five of the winning numbers and was a top-prize winner. In addition, one of the other lines of numbers that he chose himself matched three of the winning numbers, giving him another $15.
As soon as he discovered the result, the lucky winner immediately called and shared the wonderful news with his wife of 22 years. The Temple Hills resident, who is a retired printing press operator, said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills and put money into savings.
For selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket, Modern Liquors will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
