Another April, Another Win for Lucky Owings Mills Nurse

Baltimore County woman claims $50,000 scratch-off prize

There’s something about this time of year that produces Lottery luck for an Owings Mills woman. The Money Bags scratch-off worth $50,000 she delivered to Lottery headquarters on April 21 was her third big-money win. All of them, she told officials, were purchased in mid-April.

“I buy scratch-offs often and do pretty well,” the registered nurse explained to us. “I was thinking about my two biggest wins as we drove here today and realized that both of them were in April! Now a third. That’s crazy.”

Even crazier, it seems that the wins get bigger over time. “I won a $10,000 prize five years ago and then $20,000 two years ago.” This bodes well for her Lottery future.

The Baltimore County woman stopped for lunch at Howard’s Pub & Deli in Dundalk last week when visiting a friend. She decided to replace dessert with a scratch-off ticket. “Money Bags is my current favorite – even before this win. I seem to win just about every time I buy it.”

As familiar with the game as she is, our winner was startled when she saw the $50,000 match on her ticket. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I just stared at it.” Scanning her scratch-off on the Lottery ticket checker several times finally convinced the dubious nurse that her April luck had struck again. “I couldn’t wait to get home to tell the family.”

Money Bags is a $10 ticket which debuted in early February. This win is the second of the game’s four $50,000 second-tier prizes to be claimed. All five $250,000 top prizes remain in circulation. The Owings Mills resident owes a tip of the cap to the good folks at Howard’s Pub & Deli for serving as the middle-man in her happy story. You’ll find the Baltimore County business at 7312 Holabird Avenue.

“Every morning since then, I wake up and think for a moment that this has been a dream,” the happy woman told us. “And a moment later I smile knowing that it really did happen.”
