Claims top prize on Show Me $100,000! instant ticket
Rita Jones couldn’t believe she won. The Baltimore City resident had scratched off her instant ticket with a lucky dime and doubted what she saw. Had she really won the top prize on the Show Me $100,000! game?
“I kept looking at the ticket and saw it said $100,000. I didn’t believe it,” Rita recalled.
The 66-year-old showed the instant ticket to a friend, who confirmed her Lottery luck. She still didn’t believe it, however, until a local Lottery retailer confirmed the top-prize win.
A loyal player, Rita said she prefers to play $10 or $20 scratch-offs.
“I love playing scratch offs. I have been playing every day for the past 10 years,” she added.
The retired federal worker likes to visit Maryland casinos, too. She plans to use her winnings to pay off half of her mortgage. She may also go on a vacation and spend some of that money on her grandchildren.
Moravia Shell Gas Station located at 5920 Moravia Road in Baltimore sold Rita the winning instant ticket. The Lottery will give the retailer a $1,000 bonus for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
This was the fourth $100,000 top-prize winning instant ticket sold in the $10 game. The Show Me family of scratch-off games – $1, $2, $5 and $10 instant tickets – went on sale May 23 while the $20 scratch-off arrived in stores on April 18. Players can choose from a $1 Show Me $1,000! game, a $2 Show Me $10,000! game, a $5 Show Me $50,000! scratch-off, the $10 Show Me $100,000! and a $20 Show Me $1,000,000! instant ticket.
