Finds big win from Oct. 7 Pick 5 drawing
A loyal Bonus Match 5 player from Baltimore decided one day, after talking with her son, to try a different game to see if changing her game would change her luck. The grandmother of more than a dozen placed a $1 straight bet on the number 59817 for the Oct. 7 Pick 5 midday and evening drawings.
“I was talking to him on the phone,” she said, explaining that her son gave her suggestions on what numbers to play. They decided on a combination of numbers from family members’ birthdays. The 82-year-old bought the $2 ticket at Orleans Sunoco located at 1920 Orleans Street in Baltimore and went on her way. Later, when she checked the ticket for a win, the lucky lady saw her numbers was drawn in the evening drawing.
“I just didn’t believe it,” she said. Her son checked the ticket for her and verified her $50,000 prize. The happy winner plans to use some of the funds to buy a reliable car for her son, buy some things her family needs and share some of the funds with her large extended family.
Her lucky Lottery retailer also wins. For selling a $50,000 winning Pick 5 ticket, Orleans Sunoco will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
