Winner unsure of prize until he arrived at Lottery headquarters
A Baltimore City player knew he won a big prize in the FAST PLAY High Roller Blackjack progressive jackpot game but he was unsure of the amount until he arrived at Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
The winner was pleasantly surprised to learn his prize was a whopping $277,886.
The warehouse worker likes to play national jackpot games every day and had visited Kwik Mart in Baltimore to buy a Powerball ticket. When he looked at the self-serve vending machine during his Powerball purchase, the FAST PLAY game caught his eye and he made the lucky purchase.
“When I scanned the ticket, it said ‘Go to Lottery’ but I didn’t know how much I had won,” he explained.
The 40-year-old said he didn’t tell anybody about his Lottery luck. He had a feeling that he won the $277,886 jackpot when he tried to purchase another High Roller Blackjack ticket only to see the game no longer for sale. The $10 game was scheduled to close when the jackpot was hit.
“I wanted to play another ticket but that game was gone from the machine,” he said.
The loyal player said he enjoys going for walks to relax and life just got more relaxing after his big win. He is undecided on how he will spend his jackpot prize.
His lucky Lottery retailer, Kwik Mart, also benefits from its sale of the winning ticket. The store at 6656 Belair Road will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning FAST PLAY ticket of $100,000 or more.
