Life-changing windfall has winner emotional
In an extraordinary stroke of luck, a Baltimore woman has won a huge Maryland Lottery Keno prize, taking home an astonishing $240,000 prize. The winner chose to remain anonymous but asked to use the nickname “Shawn” when discussing her prize.
Shawn, a dedicated Keno player for the past six years, previously experienced a significant win of $60,000 in 2021. Since then, she has been an avid fan of the game, occasionally branching out to try Racetrax and CASH POP. However, it was her Keno purchase at Gani’s Wine and Spirits on July 15 that changed her life.
“I was just stopping by to pick up some party favors and decided to play Keno on a whim,” Shawn said. “I didn’t think much of it at the time. The next day, when I checked my ticket on the Lottery’s app, I was stunned to see that I had won $240,000.”
Overwhelmed by the life-changing news, Shawn described her reaction, “I broke down in tears. I never thought I would win this amount of money. Even though you dream about winning, it’s shocking when it actually happens. I couldn’t do anything but cry tears of joy.”
Shawn only shared the exciting news with her mother and her boyfriend. When asked about her plans for the winnings, she said, “I’ve really been thinking about that. My goal is to help my mother retire. She always worries about money and her children, so I hope this money can ease her mind and convince her to stop working.”
Gani’s Wine and Spirits at 601 North Carey Street in Baltimore will receive a $2,400 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
