Claims Pick 5 top prize playing $1 straight
A Baltimore woman limits herself to playing Pick 5 games a few times a week but one October day, she made an exception and tried her luck during an “off day.” That decision led to a top prize of $50,000.
The player was at home when she checked the winning numbers for the Oct. 24 drawing on her phone. When she saw her lucky combination of 15231 was drawn, she was shocked. The loyal player had placed a $1 straight bet on the numbers for the evening drawing.
“I couldn’t believe it. I have never won that amount before,” she said, explaining that $800 is the most she won in previous drawings.
According to the West Baltimore resident, she usually plays on selected nights and doesn’t play often on a Thursday. On her regular playing nights, she usually purchases $3 straight tickets but only purchased a $1 straight ticket in her lucky drawing.
She was at Crazy Mart, located at 1705 Pennsylvania Avenue, for another purchase and decided to add a Pick 5 ticket to enjoy. The Baltimore City retailer is glad she made the purchase since the store receives a $500 Lottery bonus for selling a $50,000 Pick 5 ticket.
The educator said she is undecided on how to spend her prize and plans to put it in the bank for now.
