Trifecta wager leads to repeat win
A Baltimore woman revisited the fun and excitement of winning a longshot Racetrax Trifecta wager when a familiar combination of lucky horses led to the same conclusion. The lucky 75-year-old saw her $2 wager deliver an amazing $30,734 prize for a second time.
The Racetrax fan regularly plays the same Trifecta combination of 10, 11 and 12. She usually plays the combination once a day but on July 15, she played the numbers twice following a small win. She asked her grandson that day to place her second Trifecta bet on his trip to the West Baltimore Grocery.
Fifteen minutes after he returned home, the player checked the ticket’s results using the Lottery’s Keno & Racetrax App. She had bet $1 for each of two consecutive races using her lucky combination. On the second race, her horses crossed the finish line in the right order to give her a $30,734 prize. When she saw the results, the loyal player recalls shouting in surprise.
“I was at the top of my voice,” she said. “I excited the whole house.”
She checked the ticket again and again, not quite believing the amount of her prize and the unexpected way her luck took shape. The odds of winning with her wager were just one in 45,455. The retired daycare worker said she planned to use the funds toward several planned home improvement projects.
Her lucky win also benefits West Baltimore Grocery located at 1206 West Baltimore Street in Baltimore City. For its role in selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, the lucky store will receive a $307.34 retailer bonus from the Lottery.
