Brooklyn Man’s Lottery Purchasing Technique Pays Off

Wins $50,000 playing the $50,000 Cash scratch-off

A contractor going home after work had quite a surprise for his wife after he stopped at a 7-Eleven in Brooklyn Park to get a soda and several scratch-offs. Using a technique to purchase instant tickets that he’s followed for some time paid off with a $50,000 top-prize win on the $50,000 Cash game.

It was about a month ago when the Brooklyn resident’s luck changed for the better. Upon entering the store, the scratch-off display caught his eye. He noticed the sparkly $50,000 Cash scratch-off and decided to play. The Lottery fan likes to buy a few scratch-offs in a row, because he thinks the odds are better at finding a winning instant ticket.

“I saw that the roll only had a few tickets left, so I bought all three,” he said. “I scanned the first two; they were not winners but that third ticket sure was!”

The married stepfather first scanned the third ticket on a faulty scanner and an error message appeared. He then tried another scanner and the message this time said, “Go to the Lottery.” Shocked, the fortunate player went back to his car to scratch off the entire instant ticket, which revealed his $50,000 prize.

“I was so amped, but I still wasn’t sure,” said the winner. “So, I went back inside to have the cashier check it.”

His Lottery luck was confirmed and the player rushed home to surprise his wife. He told Lottery officials that he handed her the scratch-off and asked her to look it over to see if it was a winner.

“She looked at it and said, ‘Nope,’ and tossed it to the side,” said the husband, laughing. “I told her to look again.”

The couple celebrated and the happy husband made an appointment to claim the prize this week. He told Lottery officials that he’s going to pay off his credit card bills with the winnings and will use some of the prize to make home improvements.

Also celebrating his win is his lucky Lottery retailer. The Anne Arundel County 7-Eleven located at 5617 Ritchie Highway will receive a $500 Lottery bonus — 1% of the prize — for selling a top-prize winning instant ticket.

The $50,000 Cash scratch-off that went on sale a little over two years ago was initially loaded with 160 $50,000 top prizes; 66 now remain. Thousands of lower-tier prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000 are also still up for grabs on this fun game.
